The Artist as a Criminal

The Crime:

The artist Mikael Richter was accused and suspected for good reason for damage. In connection to a exhibition at the cinema Fågel Blå a "KISSparkinglot" (PUSSparkeringsplats, see similarity between the swedish buss which is bus and puss which is kiss) was perofrmed outside the exhibition location.Richter was reported to the police by the streetdepartment that had been previously consulted and informed about the work of art.

The accusation was rejected in the trial the 20th of november in 1997 and Richter was declared not-guilty.

The claim for damages was withdrawn and the work of art that the streetdepartment had covered with asphalt was reconstructed.

From letters

"Would you like to come to Adolf Fredrik's School? We've got a dead boring schoolyard and we wonder if You would like to help us making it more fun. We think it is silly that You had to attend a trial. We love your art, what we have read about it. It would be fun if there came a Kissingstation to our yard or some other brilliant idea.

Greetings fromAndrea, Erik; Martin, Peter & Christina Klass 5 b Lilla Adolf Fredrik Stockholm

Ps. Answer as quick as possible, we are desperate for art."
